Birth

Today (19/6) is Garfield's birthday. Apparently he was "born" in 1978. Been reading Jim Davis's work since i first flipped open the Newspaper. Wouldn't actually say that i'm a fan but it has been there whenever i was bored, like Dilbert.

There's another old comic strip that i actually liked more than Garfield, its titled Heathcliff. Heathcliff is drawn less cute than Garfield but is more fun loving and mischievous than Garfield. Even though the physical similarities are obvious, Heathcliff actually pre-dates Garfield.

Death

Was about to meet 2 of my NS friends today but found out about the passing of the grandma of one. Will be going to the wake to pay respect, though i dun know the deceased. I guess its more of a friend thing.

Considering the above two information, it does help to put the matter of birth and death into perspective again.

One was an intangible concept created by a man person and his instruments. The other was a living person created from flesh by persons with love. Both left 2 different types of legacies on our world.

On the other end of the spectrum, there are probably millions more people or ideas out there that barely make a scratch on this world before being sniffed out of existence. What about this group then ? Is their existence so worthless or of no meaning in the eyes of the pragmatic ? I would like to think not.

Actually no one has the right to value other people’s life, coz life can have no value attached to it and there is no comparison. I’m not saying that life has a purpose. But in a zillion years, does it all matter?

Living for no purpose and dying for no purpose. The carefree life. Think about the possibilities...
