Should SG Law be like this ?

Was reading IS when i came across this article from "Police declare joggers an "illegal assembly"" by Yawning Bread.

I dunno about you. But this is damn funny and ridiculous when our enforcement can selectively enforce the Miscellaneous Offences Act (on Illegal assembly) and on certain groups of individuals.

Shouldn't the law be applied across the board to everyone? I could go along Orchard Road any day and easily identify pockets of people that are committing this offence. And by the time i'm done, probably Orchard Road would be a stretch of ghost road. If the law is ambiguous, shouldn't the legislative or judicial people look at this act to either clarify it or abolish it if it can be abused?

I can't say with a straight face that i'm proud of our enforcement agency anymore. Sad.

Revisiting Zouk

It was an atypical Wednesday. Having being bogged down with work, i had decided to go off early to join Ter and Chua for cheap happy hours beer at Boat Quay. 3 men sitting at the bar counter... we got bored soon.

We departed for Thumper which is doing a soft reopening launch at Goodwood Park Hotel. A vast difference of the previous Thumper. More of a chill out place now. Boring.

Then we hit upon the idea of revisiting Mambo at Zouk, coz Citibank customers can get in free. (no free drinks but got 1 for 1 offer from 9 to midnight). It was boring all the way till 11.30pm when retro music started rolling from the speakers. Felt like i had spontaneously time travelled to my NS days. Except that I'm older and the rest of the crowd are much younger. Phuture changed from house to hip-hop. Trance music still rules in Velvet.

Now, i have to decide whether i will be an old chiongster doing hand signs in old music (i.e retro) or old chiongster trying to be young in hip-hop music. Neh. Probabaly I'll do both. ha ha ha...

Come to think of it, I don't listen to music much in my day to day life except for car radio when i'm driving about, which is less then 20 minutes in total a day. But strangely, after a few drinks and accompanied with nice music, it feels wonder to sway as one with the rhythm of the music. It is truly one of the few things that i enjoyed besides good women, a good read and a good video game. Where you can truly leave your brain behind and let the spirit take over.
